Shōmu-en, Cheekwood Japanese Garden: 1200 Forrest Park Dr, Nashville, TN
This moonlit event takes place in Shōmu-en, Cheekwood’s Japanese Garden, named “one of the most original Japanese Gardens in North America” by Dr. Kendall H. Brown, author of Quiet Beauty, The Japanese Gardens of North America.
Guests can enjoy performances, activities and food reflecting the Japanese o-tsukimi, or autumn moon viewing tradition. The evening activities include a bilingual lantern-lit tour of the Japanese Garden, an open-house style tea ceremony, and authentic kamishibai-style storytelling of Japanese folk tales about the moon. And Cheekwood will even have art and children’s activities including haiku flags, origami, calligraphy, yoyo fishing, and fan making. Please note: The mansion and museum of art will not be open during the evening event.
